Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud,chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide,I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

THE DEBATE WHICH IS ON.....

I may receive much criticism for the posting that follows. I strictly base this writing on what I consider is my understanding of the subject; what I have witnessed from my briefest of contact with real rural India and which I have debated with myself a million times. 33% reservation for women!!!!!!!! This has been taken up as the call of the hour the need of our times……I say why not….. QUESTION: Women have always wanted EQUALITY in our society; so why now this 33% reservation………. THE REALITY: EQUALITY has for long been the passion of women’s movement worldwide; just like other how everyone who is socially conscious longs for peaceful, just, equal world. But is this so in the real context. What we long for needs time for achievement. But progressive aspects like “EQUALITY” happen only when De Jure and De Facto fall on similar planes ………… In reality women lack equal footing in many cases, this 33% would be a boost towards achieving a push forward. Also women Panchayat leaders are looki

Mourning for our media

Rape, Murder, Molestations, Harassment's….have become a part of daily life but still we purposefully avoid the seriousness of issues. And this is well recognized and projected effectively by our loyal consumerism promoting Fourth Estate (who by the way follow point-blank guidelines set by the elite and socially powerful individuals) In fact they even go to an extent of justifying their media content by labeling themselves as “Infotainment Channels” and not merely the clear cut/ straightforward “News Channels”. You see “News Channels” need to have a political stand on issues, They have to be a responsible media, They have be mirrors of our society, They need focus to be the “change elements”……………. Unfortunately this is asking for too much from our celebrity crazed, advertisement dependent, TRP bound News …uhm.. Sorry Infotainment channels. The numerous problems of evictions, displacements and lopsided development projects do not find their place in today’s media: Instead celebrity w

Carnage

Untimely events shape the outcome of many circumstances. These events can alter the setting of any entity. The constant splatter of raindrops seemed as an intruder in the otherwise quite graveyard. The shower seemed to challenge the stillness of the graveyard with its thunder and lighting. These events however made no difference to the lone man standing by the freshly marked grave. The grave served as nothing more than a door unlocking the innocent dreams of the past.......... The shrieks of joy served to create an electrifying atmosphere in the playground. This joyous kingdom of innocence is probably the only place where celebration of life never ceased. Waqar trudged along the muddy path towards the playground. Following him Aaliya walked hurriedly to keep pace with him. On reaching the playground Waqar searched for his closest buddy, Padma. Padma on seeing them, rushed to join her buddies. The trio basically inseparable joined the other children in the game of hide and seek. A bolt
